Get Involved

The Student Life and Experience Conference (SLEC) is dependent on the active participation and engagement of the entire Caltech community. There are several ways you can get involved and contribute to the success of this initiative:

Participate in Surveys

Your feedback is vital to understanding student life's current state and identifying improvement areas. We will be conducting comprehensive surveys to gather insights from students, faculty, and staff.

Survey Timeline

• Survey Distribution: Wednesday, January 21st
• Survey Close: 9am on Wednesday, February 4th

Student Survey Incentives

Group Prizes:

First prize is $1,000, second prize is $500, which go to the house/residence to supplement an upcoming house trip/event or unaffiliated student event.

Methodology: Two houses/residences will be selected by lottery for the group prizes (a house/residence cannot win both first and second prize). The number of lottery entries each house/residence earns will be calculated based on the percentage of that house completing the survey by the deadline. Please make sure to select your primary affiliation in the survey demographic question to accurately record your preference. For the purpose of this incentive, students who select unaffiliated are considered as one residence.

Example: If 80% of House A and House B complete the survey, they will earn an equivalent number of entries to the lottery, regardless of the number of members of the house/residence.

Individual Prizes:

Ten students will be invited to attend a special dinner prepared by Tom Mannion at a date to best accommodate the winners. A mutually agreeable date for all students cannot be guaranteed.

How to Participate (Students):

1. Check your Caltech email for your individualized survey link sent from the Qualtrics email server.
2. Complete the survey using your specific link by 9am on Wednesday, February 4th.
3. Encourage your peers to take the survey to ensure diverse and comprehensive feedback.

How to Participate (Staff):

1. Check your Caltech email for an invitation to take the survey from Joseph Greenwell.
2. Complete the survey using your Caltech credentials to login by 9am on Wednesday, February 4th.
3. Encourage your peers to participate to ensure diverse and comprehensive feedback. You are welcome to forward the email from Joseph to other staff who work with students that may not have received it.

Attend the Conference

Mark your calendars for Friday, April 17, 2026 from and plan to attend the Student Life and Experience Conference. This year's conference will take place in the Hameetman Center Multipurpose Room from 1pm to 5pm with a celebration dinner to follow on Olive Walk.

Your presence and input are vital to the success of these events. Please join us in the ongoing discussion and improvement of the student experience at Caltech!

Join a Committee - We Need Students!

We are forming several committees to focus on specific aspects of student life. Each committee will play a crucial role in identifying challenges, gathering data, and developing actionable recommendations. All undergraduate students are welcome to sign up to join a committee.
